Finished and started

July 29, 2012

I finished my Bigger on the Inside! I actually finished on Thursday but have yet to block — maybe after we do our Sunday cleaning, if I don’t just flop onto a couch with a book.

I picked up the front edge stitches on my cardigan and got a few rows of ribbing done on Friday before I cast on for my Ravellenics project — Flying Arrows Socks. It’s the first time I’m knitting socks from any sort of pattern, the first time I’m knitting top-down, and the first time making socks in thinner yarn. You’d think I would have gotten over my reticence before now, but for some reason I’ve been putting it off. Maybe this can get me into sock madness.

The yarn is Dizzy Blonde Superwash Sock in Faith Child’s Bouquet. It’s a lovely light fingering; I’ve made a Haruni in the same yarn and colorway before,  and a shawl in Tequila Sunrise.

The Olympic opener was amazing. It was kind of hard to cast on and count and knit and watch and eat chips all at the same time, though. P was kind enough to feed me chips at random intervals, which helped.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for directing me to this pattern! Fingers crossed that my deep love for The Doctor is powerful enough to overcome my fear of knitting from a chart…

Those socks are fantastic. I knit that pattern a while ago and loved the result. Can’t wait to see your finished pair!
