We had a lovely vacation, but the way home was a bit of an ordeal with several delayed, missed and rebooked flights — and our luggage didn’t make it from Newark. Ugh. It should, with some luck, be arriving today. Maybe.
P was very patient and accompanied me to several yarn stores up and down the California coast, and not only waited around but provided input on what I should get. When we were driving up to San Fransisco, I was looking up the address for A Verb for Keeping Warm, and was very happy for a second when I saw that the Yarn Harlot was going to be there on… the next Sunday, not that Sunday. Oh well. I do have quite a bit of lovely yarn in the errant luggage as a consolation prize. I tried to find some locally made or dyed yarns wherever I went, to make the souvenir aspect even better.
I had no trouble bringing my knitting onto any of the flights, and knit quite a bit on my laceweight cardi. I’ve decided against the long tie fronts on the Simplicity Cardigan (which, er, are sort of the main design element of that pattern; go figure) so I’m just knitting the body straight down.
(When P wakes up and reveals where he’s hidden the memory cards, I can share some pictures of both plane knitting and brewery knitting.)
I have yet to decide what I want to do with the bottom and front edges, and if I’m going to maybe use buttons, but I have a couple of inches left to decide. I’ll see if I can get a decent picture of it — it’s a little early in the morning to be efficient right now. Jet lag is a bitch, coming this way, and getting home twenty-four hours later than originally promised doesn’t help.
