I’ve attempted a gingerbread house of my own design once before. It was not a good idea – each section was, like, eight by ten inches. It couldn’t really hold its own weight.
This time, I chilled out a bit on size, and also had the brilliant realization that I could trim the sides to make them straighter, just when the pieces came out of the oven. And then was a lot of waiting and waiting, and reassembling when the icing hadn’t quite set, and whatnot. And there were only three red and two yellow candy buttons in the whole bag – what was that all about? Mom and I considered calling the company and complaining. But it’s pretty cute, no?
There’s a gingermoose hiding behind the outhouse.
